This past Sunday, I met one of the most awesomest (i just made a new word!) families ever: the Ralston’s!! Bill and Robyn are good friends of Chris and Charlene, whose maternity session I photographed a while ago. They have an adorable 15 month old son Will and, slightly older but just as cute labrador retriever, Bella. Together, the 5 of us headed out and got some beautiful photos while having a great time. Srsly, we kicked butt and took names. Simply put, they’re natural models!

Easily my favorite shot so far this YEAR!

I recently headed out to Orange County to photograph Teresa and Don’s wedding. I had such a great time! Teresa and Don were such a great couple! The Tustin Ranch Golf Club is a beautiful place to have your wedding and reception. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and their lush, green golf courses really let us capture some wonderful images! Special thanks to Joanne, Laura, and Priscilla for all their help, and to Miguel Pola for an awesome day!

Yes, the rain started JUST as the ceremony (which was outdoors, by the way) was about to start. The amazing staff scrambled to bring out the umbrellas and set everything up. Luckily, everyone was still all smiles!

Sandy and I were just hanging out today after sleeping waaay in this morning. I was completely exhausted from yesterday when I shot a wedding with Brian Khang in Old Town Fullerton. (I’ll post pics from that in a few days.) But we were just chillin’ around the house and Sandy was doing her favorite pasttime: surfing Facebook profiles. Out of no where she said, “so are we going to take pics today?’ Now, normally it’s like pulling teeth to get her to pose or take pics for me because she doesn’t want to go get all “did up”. But today she was all ready and willing, so I jumped at the chance. We just went into the backyard and snapped these up in a quick n dirty 5 minute photo session. Dirty because, well our backyard still isn’t done and there’s nothing but dirt back there. (Actually the concrete is finished, but we still have grass and plants to put in.)

So after we finish and I get them onto the computer…guess what’s the first thing she does? Update her facebook profile pic. haha.

Sorry about not updating my blog in a while. My alter-ego day job has been keeping me quite busy. Things are hectic since I recently moved over to join a new team and have been suffering at the hands of the newbie learning curve. My new boss seems cool, except that he wants to keep me busy. But anyway, we were able to squeeze in a portrait session with Branden this past weekend. His parents wanted to get some images of him to share with friends and family, as well as to capture moments of him while he’s still in that newborn stage. I hadn’t seen him for a week and already, he’s changed so much. His face looks chubbier, he moves around a lot, and his eyes open to stare at you when he’s awake. It’ll be interesting to see his growth by next week.

Which brings me to an important note. I recently came across this great article that stressed the importance of frequently having professional portraits taken of your children as they grow up. It’s exactly for the reason that they grow so fast that you want to do this. Sure, snapshots are fun too but an image taken by a professional with pro-level equipment brings the enjoyment onto another level. The value of a beautiful family treasure that can be enjoyed for years (and by future generations) offsets the price of the photo session.
