Man it’s been a busy week. I’m a little behind but I wanted to take the time out and congratulate my good friend and fellow photographer, Jason Lee for his feature article on Strobist. Jason is a San Francisco-based wedding and portrait photographer who is also the father of two adorable girls, Kristin and Kayla. Around November of last year, he started a project to photograph them every day. If you are familiar with the Flickr community, it’s sorta like a “365″ project - where you take a self-portrait every day for the purpose of self-growth and reflection. The work that Jason has produced is nothing short of amazing. He’s been told several times (by people other than myself) that he should publish a book. It’s THAT good.
Strobist is a blog ran by Baltimore newspaper photojournalist, David Hobby. He specifically talks about off-camera lighting techniques and equipment, with nothing but inexpensive “Speedlite” flashes (he’s a Nikon guy, nobody’s perfect.) Its popularity within the photography community has grown to the status of a cult-like following, mostly due to the fantastic articles that Mr. Hobby publishes but also because of the community that has developed within the Flickr discussion group.
If you have some free time, check out Jason’s work, especially if you have kids. Be prepared to be amazed and insprired.
