iphone 3g - free!
August 8, 2008
no it’s not a scam or one of those web banners that entice you to click on them, only to take you to uncharted internet territories. 3 days ago i put my iPhone up for sale on eBay. i didn’t think anything of it - just thought i’d try and see if anyone was interested. i had been thinking of selling my 1st gen iPhone for a while now since I’ve heard rumors that they were still going for upwards of $3-400 on eBay. so i thought, “hey why not see if i can sell mine, then if it does i’ll be able to buy the new one!”
well…no sooner than TWO MINUTES after i placed the auction (with a buy-it-now price set) it sold! i was amazed! so…with my iphone packaged up and shipped off to its new owner, i had funds available for the new one.
i had considered not getting the 3g after selling the old iPhone, but within the first 5 minutes of driving home from the post office, i came to my senses and headed to the mall instead. i’ve been living with an iPhone for the past year and i was pretty amazed at how attached i’ve become to this device.
i had to go twice to the apple store. the first time i went they only had the white 16g one (which i didn’t want for certain reasons) so i had to go back the next day. after about an hr wait in line i was out of there and already checking out the new features.
my first impressions:
it fits very nicely in your hand due to the contour of the curved back.
it’s much lighter now that the backing is not metal, but plastic. i’m sure some insides got “re” figured out too.
the gps chip rocks! it’s so cool to see that moving dot on the maps application as i’m driving down the street. it even goes faster as i’m on the freeway!
3G makes this free upgrade completely worth it. i no longer have to wait forever for something to load up when i’m out and about. at home, it really doesn’t matter too much since i have it connected to the wireless network, but nonetheless…it’s awesome.
