Brenda + Paul Maternity

Recently, I met up with Brenda and Paul in Anaheim and Old Towne Orange for their maternity session. As soon as I met them, I knew we’d be getting some amazing photographs. They’re both real fun and funny, and completely excited about the arrival of their baby girl. I really enjoyed taking these photos because throughout the session it was clear how in love they both were, and how happy they were to be parents. When I asked them if they were ready for the sleepless nights and dirty diapers they just smiled, looked at each other, and said, “yeah.” Congratulations guys, you’re going to be awesome parents.

Yolanda + Pedro Wedding

I recently got to shoot Yolanda and Pedro’s San Juan Capistrano wedding where we got the chance to take pictures inside of the Mission. It was beautiful and once in, I didn’t want to leave. There were so many great spots to shoot but we only had an hour before the reception. I thought I’d try something different with this blog post. Hope you enjoy. Jenine + Alex Engagement

I had a great time photographing Jenine and Alex’s engagement session at Balboa Park and Scripps Pier in San Diego. They’re so fun to be around and we got along really well. I think Alex and I bored Jenine with our gadget-talk, but thankfully it didn’t show in the photos. At the end of our session I told them that I’d be putting up some images on my blog and they said, “it’s okay if you don’t, we’re not the greatest looking people around.”

I just laughed. They’re obviously clueless to their awesomeness.

Jasmine and Paul are a cute couple. They found me through friends and it turns out, Jasmine and I went to high school together! It was like finding a long lost relative and as we spent the day in shooting in Laguna Beach, we chatted about our old neighborhood while comparing notes on who knew whom. They’re happily awaiting the arrival of their “Cadbury” - a nickname used in place of “the baby” or “it” because they decided to be old-fashioned and be surprised when he or she arrives. Congratulations you two.

I’m reluctant to post these types of blog entries because it’s a guilty admission of my neglect towards regular updates. Nevertheless, I thought I’d share what has been going on in my life. The biggest news I have to share is: Sandy and I got married! It’s been months and months of stressful planning but we’re officially official, and couldn’t be happier. Although life post-wedding has been mostly unchanged from before, being married is great because of the absence of that added stress that planning the biggest day of your life brings. We’ve been occupying ourselves by filling our weekends with relaxing downtime and getaways. Now, instead of trying to figure out what font to use on our menus, or where to sit so-and-so next to, we’re debating over whether to take Zoey to the park or the beach. Here are some photos from our wedding taken by our fantastic photographer and our honeymoon in Hawaii, with a few shots of Zoey for good measure :)

I feel so fortunate to be a part of Vi and Tom’s wedding. They are two of the most genuine, wholesome people I have ever met. Their friends and family were all so caring and it’s easy to see why these two are so right for each other. Their wedding day was filled with nothing but celebration. I especially enjoyed the excellent speeches by all. A big thanks to Jason for once again rocking it out with me, and to Caroline Chang of Serenity Events for putting on an awesome wedding.

Vi + Tom Engagement

I really enjoy heading to the city because I don’t get the chance to do it often. There’s so much flavor and energy there. It’s great to get away from my suburban life and experience the hustle of urban Los Angeles. On this past occasion, I met up with Vi and Tom at Union Station for their engagement session. Vi and Tom met in medical school and are nothing short of classy. You can tell they’re head over heels for each other, because they can’t look at one another without smiling. They are such good people and I really enjoy hanging out with them. I’m looking forward to your wedding in two months!

I really like their attitude and style here. So casual, yet so cool.

Afterwards, we headed over to the Walt Disney Concert Hall just as the sun was setting.

Viceroy Hotel - Majell + Steve, Still Goin’ Strong

Majell and Steve have been married for six years, and they are still madly in love. For their 6th anniversary they decided to do a portrait session, so last week we got together bright and early to start in Beverly Hills and end the session at the awesome Hotel Viceroy in Santa Monica. I love how they decided to not hold anything back and go all out with their choice of attire and location. I had a great time shooting this chic and trendy couple.

Hi! First off, I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas, New Year’s, Lunar New Year, and Valentine’s Day. My sincerest apologies for the lack of posts on my blog! I am still alive - albeit very busy with work and personal life. I will be catching everyone up on my sessions and life soon! Thank you for your continued support! - Mieng

Last fall I met Barbara, Eugene, and their daughter Riley at a BBQ gathering in their beautiful Irvine neighborhood. They are were a family of three who have never had any professional photos done of them and when they found out I was a photographer, we quickly struck up a conversation and exchanged contact info. I had the distinct honor of photographing the Choe’s at a special time in their lives. Barbara was 8 months pregnant with their second child, and they wanted a combination of family, maternity, and infant portraits…we joked about the need to “catch up” with photos since this was their first session. A few weeks later we met for the family & maternity session, which was just in time for Christmas, and recently I got a chance to meet their newest family member, Jonathan, for his own special portrait shoot. Clift Hotel - Mai & Ricky Married

I flew up to San Francisco this past weekend to photograph my last wedding of the year with Jason Lee. I had so much fun capturing this genuinely down to earth couple. It was totally awesome! The rain and cold kept us indoors for most of the day. It didn’t matter though because cloudy as it was outside, it was a warm, joyous, and fun-filled inside. Mai and Ricky, thank you for letting me be a part of your special day.

I recently drove out to Los Angeles to photograph a really great family. Lauren and David have a fourteen month old son named Nathan who is not only adorable, but extremely curious about everything! We had a fun time trying to get him to sit still and not walk off to go look at something. It was a bit tricky but everything worked out when Grandma & Grandpa stopped by…it must be a universal truth that all kids love their grandparents because Nathan was all smiles the rest of the time :) Thanks for a wonderful day!

Pacific Palms Wedding - Ting + Loc Married

Ting and Loc are very much in love. They’re very cute together, as I found out last week on their wedding day at Pacific Palms Resort. I saw how much they cared for each other by the subtle yet endearing way they steal glances at each other, grab for the other’s hand, and smile with their eyes at each other. The Friedman Family - Slideshow

I recently met The Friedman’s and got a chance to spend a fun afternoon hanging out at their home. Samantha and Jordan, along with their adorable ten-month old son Jackson, invited me over to do their very first family portrait session. We had a blast! They’re such a great looking and down to earth family and it totally made my job easy. Jackson’s a handsome little man who’s got this thing for sticking his tongue out at me, but the icing on the cake was that their chocolate brown Cocker Spaniel is also named Zoe(y)! Laguna Beach Wedding - Heather+Ektor

I had the pleasure of photographing Heather and Ektor’s beautiful wedding in Laguna Beach. They had a private ceremony with close family and friends at Heisler Park and reception held at Christaki’s Restaurant. Heather looked absolutely beautiful in her dress and all of the amazing details - from the handmade bouquets to the homemade soap bar favors - where a huge success. Congratulations guys!
