Alex and Fabiana are a great couple with two really cute kids. So cute - in fact - that it was no problem at all when Fabiana told me to focus the session on the kids. We all got together last week on a very warm and sunny Sunday and I had so much fun capturing this down to earth family! We hung out in their beautiful neighborhood and had a blast while I snapped away. I brought Zoey with me to get some extra smiles outta the girls, which turned out to be a great idea! I think I found my new photo assistant! Special thanks to Sandy for reigning her in and keeping her overzealous tongue in check :)

Kim & Craig - Maternity

June 28, 2009

I was recently fortunate enough to have met Kim & Craig through a mutual friend, and they decided to commission me for a few portraits during this special time in their lives. Kim and Craig are a very expectant couple (they were literally on “any day now” mode) and they couldn’t have been more happy - or excited - to meet their first child. I arrived at their beautiful home last week and spent a few hours capturing Kim’s motherly beauty and Craig’s prideful joy at his growing family. They are both amazing - not just in front of the camera, but also as individuals who are going to make great parents. I couldn’t have been happier for them when I got the word a few days ago that they had delivered Baby Shiloh. Congratulations to the both of you and your entire family!

Please enjoy. (click the picture)

The Ralston Family

April 15, 2009

This past Sunday, I met one of the most awesomest (i just made a new word!) families ever: the Ralston’s!! Bill and Robyn are good friends of Chris and Charlene, whose maternity session I photographed a while ago. They have an adorable 15 month old son Will and, slightly older but just as cute labrador retriever, Bella. Together, the 5 of us headed out and got some beautiful photos while having a great time. Srsly, we kicked butt and took names. Simply put, they’re natural models!

Please, kindly enjoy! (slideshow)

Easily my favorite shot so far this YEAR!

Here’s part two of last weekend’s awesome double-header. After the maternity session Mignonne, James, and I headed to Diamond Bar where they were warmly welcomed by their friends and family. It was really nice to see everyone get together and party in anticipation of their unborn son. Hats off to the hostess for putting together such a great gathering!

Please enjoy!

Check out mom & dad when they were kids!

(I don’t know what it is either.)

I snuck in for a pic too!

After everyone said their good-bye’s, we hung around and caught a few more intimate moments.

A while back, I was approached by Mignonne to do some portraits. Her and her husband James are expecting a baby boy in April and wanted to capture this special time in their lives with photos. I am always up to do “belly sessions” because to me, it’s the natural “next step” after getting married. Plus, how could I turn down participating in (and capturing) this important part of their family history?

So, this past Saturday they were in town attending their baby shower (hosted by their awesome friend, Jean) and the three-and-a-half of us got together a few hours before it began to shoot around. We met at noon on a very sunny and otherwise beautiful day which, though great for picnics and outdoor fun-in-the-sun, is not the best time to take photos. (It’s a good thing to keep in mind when planning any photo sessions or wedding ceremony start times: full sun during early afternoon equals harsh lighting conditions, which equals not-so-great photos.)

Nevertheless, knowing this beforehand I took some time a few days before and drove around the area we were going to be in so that I could find the best spots to photograph my expectant couple. Because we only had a couple of hours before the baby shower, I didn’t want to waste time finding locations the day of.

It definitely paid off. Please kindly enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them :o)
