Majell and Steve have been married for six years, and they are still madly in love. For their 6th anniversary they decided to do a portrait session, so last week we got together bright and early to start in Beverly Hills and end the session at the awesome Hotel Viceroy in Santa Monica. I love how they decided to not hold anything back and go all out with their choice of attire and location. I had a great time shooting this chic and trendy couple.

The Choe Family - Slideshow

February 25, 2010

Hi!  First off, I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas, New Year’s, Lunar New Year, and Valentine’s Day.  My sincerest apologies for the lack of posts on my blog!  I am still alive - albeit very busy with work and personal life.  I will be catching everyone up on my sessions and life soon!  Thank you for your continued support! - Mieng

Last fall I met Barbara, Eugene, and their daughter Riley at a BBQ gathering in their beautiful Irvine neighborhood.  They are were a family of three who have never had any professional photos done of them and when they found out I was a photographer, we quickly struck up a conversation and exchanged contact info.  I had the distinct honor of photographing the Choe’s at a special time in their lives.  Barbara was 8 months pregnant with their second child, and they wanted a combination of family, maternity, and infant portraits…we joked about the need to “catch up” with photos since this was their first session.  A few weeks later we met for the family & maternity session, which was just in time for Christmas, and recently I got a chance to meet their newest family member, Jonathan, for his own special portrait shoot.  Here’s a selection of my favorite images from the two sessions.  Please click the image for a slideshow!

The Ravitz Family - Slideshow

I recently drove out to Los Angeles to photograph a really great family. Lauren and David have a fourteen month old son named Nathan who is not only adorable, but extremely curious about everything! We had a fun time trying to get him to sit still and not walk off to go look at something. It was a bit tricky but everything worked out when Grandma & Grandpa stopped by…it must be a universal truth that all kids love their grandparents because Nathan was all smiles the rest of the time :) Thanks for a wonderful day!

Please check out the slideshow and don’t forget to come back and leave me love in the comments box!

I recently met The Friedman’s and got a chance to spend a fun afternoon hanging out at their home. Samantha and Jordan, along with their adorable ten-month old son Jackson, invited me over to do their very first family portrait session. We had a blast! They’re such a great looking and down to earth family and it totally made my job easy. Jackson’s a handsome little man who’s got this thing for sticking his tongue out at me, but the icing on the cake was that their chocolate brown Cocker Spaniel is also named Zoe(y)! Thanks for a fun filled afternoon, guys!

Mireya and David are expecting a baby next month. It was a special honor for me that I was invited to capture these moments just before the baby arrives, because Mireya and David are good friends of our’s. They’ve decided to wait until delivery to find out if they’re having a boy or a girl. At first my reaction was, “how impractical! What if their baby boy ends up with a bunch of pink onesies?” However, I slowly realized that their patience in waiting to find out and acceptance with whatever he or she will be is a testament to the kind of parents they are. During the session I asked David if he had a preference towards either gender, and his response was, “Just as long as it’s healthy.” It then struck me that, although modern medicine and technology allow us to look forward to see what lies ahead, the miracle of creating life out of love is a gift - regardless of whichever form it comes in.

I was humbled. Mireya and David, congratulations! Please enjoy these images.
